The Company believes that every Indonesian citizen has the right to live in a safe and healthy environment. It has been the Company’s continuous efforts to improve environmental sustainability, has the analysis on environmental impacts (AMDAL), carry out environmental Management and monitoring (UKL-UPL), meet environmental quality standards, prioritize environmentally friendly operations, and so on. The Company also reports the implementation of environmental protection and Management to the relevant agencies responsible for environmental Management on regular basis. With this compliance, the Company is optimistic to reduce the potential environmental negative impacts arose from the Company’s operations.

Real actions taken by the Company to support environmental sustainability were as follows:

Material/Raw Material

As a bread and cake producer, the Company needs a variety raw materials, such as wheat flour, eggs, milk, and etc. These materials are obtained from third party Suppliers. The use of raw materials is calculated according to production needs. There is no recycled materials used in the production process because every material is only for one-time use.

Energy Management

The company uses various types of energy to run the business, which are electricity, diesel fuel, LPG and LNG. The electricity is mostly supplied by PT PLN (Persero) and used to power lightings and various office equipments and production machineries. The diesel fuel is used for generators (only if needed). While, the LPG and LNG are used as an energy source of production machineries.

The Energy Consumption Data in this report is collected from all of the Company’s plants in Indonesia. The Company is aware that the availability of electricity, diesel fuel, LPG, and LNG as non-renewable resources is increasingly limited. For that reason, the Company implements smart and efficient uses of resources.

Emission Management

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions are one of the causes of global warming and climate change. 

The Company is committed to managing emissions well.

Water Management

The Company realizes that the availability of water sources for PDAM is increasingly limited, and the water treatment process is also becoming more difficult due to high level of pollutants. Likewise, the same issue happens in groundwater used for daily activities. To encounter these issues, the Company is committed to use water efficiently without hindering the production process.

Waste and Effluent Management

Waste and effluent are main sources of environmental pollution, without proper handling, both are threats to the ecosystem that can contaminate the soil and water. The Company is determined to to properly manage its waste to avoid contamination of our environment.

The production process generates solid and liquid wastes that are both classified as hazardous and toxic materials (B3) as well as non-B3. The Company disposes and handles its waste in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations by joining forces with third parties with certified co-processing permit to handle B3 waste. The reporting of B3 waste has been carried out in compliance with PP No.22 of 2021 concerning Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.

Significant Spills

The Company is committed to manage the use of raw materials and waste handling properly. This commitment was evidenced by there was no cases of significant spills, either oil, fuel, waste, or chemical spills. There was no locations, volume, materials, and impact of the spills that may significantly affect the environment and society.

Biodiversity

Biodiversity plays an important role in supporting the life survival of every species and natural ecosystem.

The Company operates 14 plants spread across various regions of Indonesia. None of the plants are located near forest area, protected area or area with high biodiversity value outside the protected area. Thus, the Company’s operations have no significant negative impact on biodiversity. The Company’s activities are not related to deforestation.
